RM8 million to a cable TV station?

Who in their right mind would invest as much as RM8 million to publicise Malaysian sports via cable TV?

The Sports Ministry did. It was approved, according to sources, by the Cabinet Committee on Sports Development.

The contract was between the Sports Ministry and the station.

But who gets to foot the bill?

The National Sports Council, of course. Let me remind you, that the NSC was established in 1971 through a parliamentary act to "jaga" high-performance sports.

So investing into a TV station also part of jaga the sports?

Again, kudos to Berita Harian for digging this up. Keep up the good work.

But who approved the thing, ah?

bro, its not RM8 million la, but RM11.1million. RM8 million is the balance that some undesirable elements in the sports ministry push for MSN to pay....

nak tanya ckit "apa stesen tv kita ni teruk sgt ka?tu la org kita terlampau mengagungkan sgt barat....kita ada kumpulan media prima yang punya banyak channel.....sampai tak tau la nak decided sukan nak ke mana, hiburan nak ke mana.....tapi apa pun RTM jgk yang maintain.....mcm2 org kata, old timer la,org kg saja tgk,pakcik2 saja yang tgk tapi hakikatnya SUKAN TERBAIK HANYA DI RTM.bro sendiri pernah dijemput ke tv3?rtm?jadi berbalik pada nilai 11 juta tu,sebenarnya dibelanjakan untuk kepentingan pihak terntu.....yang kesiannya msn tak pasai2 kena tuduh mcm2cukup la 4 tahun yang penuh dengan drama dan wayang....ini masa yb bera kena perelokkan balik KBS....

NSC has to pay it because the third man from the ministry, the deputy 2 chief secretary of the ministry, wrote letter to NSC to pay. The best part is, the same guy then, in the post cab meeting last wednesday, vehemently denied he wrote the letter, and even put the NSC DG in a tight spot by 'forcing' him to agree with him....if the minister cant see thru all this, might as well you 'hentam' him just like you did with the previous one....ha ha ha...dont worry, my source is obscenely reliable, coz he was inside there in the meeting...ha ha ha

Bro I agree with the figure of RM 11.1 million but only RM 6.5 million was paid to the TV Station
which also includes an event which was said to be the Futsal Championship that was played at Stadium Negara recently. So what the remaining cash goes to .... siapa lagi,Azalina's cronies, have to pay car installment, beli black berry, travel in first class ticket to US to help Azalina to tyoe her assignment.. banyak lagi bro.
So to keep it simple, the remaining cash went AWOL. Only KBS can explain.

Keep up the good work bro !

It is a waste,..bayar berjuta for a station yang ada seorang presenter pompuan dia tu tak tau siapa koo kien keat?...
Datang training badminton poyo2 berlagak pastu tanya,"ah,.ah,..which one is kien keat ah?.."
Sebutan english pun terkial2,..only one of thoese espn presenter actually does his homework, and ada effort untuk majukan diri.
The money spent for that station is maybe better use for development,..betul tak bro?

the best of RTM is...."there is no room for politics in sport"....

they don't simply politicize any issue...

they know when to sensationalize or to "neutral" issues....

they simply reporting when it is time to report....

they don't go for money...perhaps the best word is responsbility and accountability....

that's why at one time the tag line "Teman Setia Anda"...

so why not we as Malaysian..."Temankan Teman Kita Yang Setia ini"...
