Who would you pick?

The FA of Malaysia (FAM) has apparently shortlisted five candidates to succeed B. Sathianathan as the national team supremo.

Azraai, courtesy of jeebsion.com

Azraai Khor Abdullah @ Khor Sek Leng (Kedah)
Former Kedah skipper who was a member of the 1976 Asian Cup squad to Tehran. He led the Canaries to the treble on two successive seasons, a no mean feat.

Devan
K. Devan (Selangor)
Considerably successful with Negeri Sembilan, Devan's management skills are highly sought after. Took Kuala Muda Naza to the Premier League title last year.

Rajagopal

K. Rajagopal @ K. Rajagobal (Harimau Muda boss)

Having coached Selangor and Kelantan in previous years, the ex-international who partnered Supermokh in the late 70s, took over the national Under-20 squad from Jorvan Vieira in 2004 and has been tasked to form a decent squad for the Laos SEA Games.

Dollah

Dollah Salleh (Shahzan Muda)
My most abiding memory of this dribbling wizard remains his wonderful left-footed strike against South Korea in the 1985 pre-World Cup clash at the Merdeka Stadium. Led Selangor MPPJ to the Malaysia Cup title in 2003 and Selangor to the treble in 2005.

Wan Jamak

Wan Jamak Wan Hassan (Negeri Sembilan)
The reserve right-back in Karl Weigang's 1980 Olympic squad, Wan Jamak quit the national team following the Jakarta SEA Games debacle in 1997, a year after he guided the team to the runners-up spot in the inaugural Tiger Cup in Singapore.

Read here and here but I wonder why FAM exco member Hamidin Mohd Amin spoke about the national team when he is not directly involved in the management side.

FAM do not take too kindly of officials who encroached into other people's territory. By right the ones allowed to issue statements pertaining to the national team on behalf of the national body are the president, the team manager, the technical committee chairman and the general secretary.

Macam tulah kalau orang dah kemaruk nak jawatan. berangan nak jadi team manager kot. jaga ajelah wilayah sendiri, futsal pun tak terurus nak sibuk jaga hal orang. gitulah orang perasan dia bagus

Saya pilih Azraai Khor sebab dia membawa kedah ke mercu kejayaan buat dua musim berturut-turut, mana ada coach lain buat. Kenapa saudara tak pilih sesiapa tapi hentam hamidin akhirnya?

Bro, fam nak ikut keputusan undian nanti?

You once told me that Azraai Khor may not be foolish enough to take the job. I wonder if he's changed his mind. K Devan is a good candidate but personally as a Selangor fan I'd rather him not be the national coach (must be selfish here!) as he's more likely to taste success with Selangor than the national team.

But please, please, please not Dollah. Dollah is hopeless with player management. If he gets a good bunch of players then it would be okay, but get him in a group where some of the players are too influential then thats it. He's like the local Rijkaard. I'm sure Selangor fans would agree. And honestly tactical-wise he's not really that much of a difference from Sathia.

I would suggest two candidates that suit to be considered the job as the new supremo of malaysian national team based on their charisma and approach. They are Wan Jamal Wan Hassan (NSFA) and K.Devan (FAS). Both have the qualities to carry the heavy responsibilities on them. But of course, frankly, one shouldn't have put high hopes on either one of them to revive the current situation of our national team with the current batch of players available. They can only be there and give the input to brave the challenges ahead but to expect results, its too soon to predict. Rajagobal should have been entrusted to continue his guidance with the U19 team where the boys had started to adjust themselves well and good with him. Wallahualam

Apa salahnya En. Hamidin bagi statement mcm tu?? Lagipun tak da polisi yg mengatakan Ahlil Majlis seperti beliau tak boleh bagi pendapat?? Team Manager skrg ni bz sgt kot??? Pas ni pi la cari Sdr. Ahmad Nazri (Pahang FA), Datuk Joned (PP FA) atau Wan Nizam (Johor FA) utk bagi pandangan. Saya rasa Azrai bukan calon yang sesuai. Bukan juga Dollah maupun Devan. Rajagopal, biarlah dia dgn skuad remaja sebab dia dah comfortable kat c2 dgn bebudak Bwah 19 & 18. So, jelas, saya pilih Wan Jamak.

Is there any chances of selecting a new FAM president instead? Enough is enough.

NONE of the above, period.

These guys are NOT up to the standard for the national team for the right man for the job is, in my humble opinion is Robert Alberts, currently the coach/manager of Sarawak.

FAM needs the calibre of this Dutchman to steer the national team, or what is left of it out of the doldrums until a real plan to rehabilitate the national team is found and implemented.

Until then these local fellas are only good (perhaps just fit) for the state teams or teams of the Super League or Premier League.

They are no different from B.Sathia...taking another one of the fellas is like running in a circle akin to a dog chasing its tail...he he he

Today FAM needs man like me and a specially selected group on highly-motivated (younger) individuals to help out clean the shit that alredy hit ceiling...I had offered my help (and my expertise complete with my National Football Mission)to no less than The President himself, perhaps someone had got a folder that I hand delivered to the HRH missing, thus he was not able to asses my idea (which, among others include an affirnity campaign, a national football team for world cup project and an overhaul of the existing leagues). Its FAM's loss bigtime.

Tell me how an over 60 year old man and his bunch of former soldiers could muster the respect and confidence of a bunch of youngsters below 30? How do u speak to them, do u understand their lingo?

Who said former footballers make good manager? FAM was once ran by former national players and they screwed up big time, only to have the stable fell onto the laps of former soldiers...already the results are undesireable....pathetic...

Enuf said...football needs professionalism, which they lacked big time now...losing a good man to an already well-organised sports association with excellent records to show is an insult...YOU OBVIOUSLY DO NOT KNOW WHAT YOU HAVE UNTIL YOU LOSE IT...

Firstly, Hamidin tak payah menyibuk. Jaga Selangor da la.Kasi orang lain peluang. Bab national coach, saya tak faham kenapa FAM susah sangat nak appoint! Rajagopal is there and as u said he has all the players that he knows to build a strong team for the sea games. Kenapa kita buang masa memilih candidate dari membuat penyiapan yang rapi! Dato Redzuan tak payah la nak buang masa tunggu mesyuarat exco.

Just one sidefoot finish from point blank range...it was not to be...crossbar...Vietnam counter and score instantly in Phuket.

Flashback...Ian Rush clinic on clinical finishing...Selangor players skipped the Final day totally missing out on the final lesson from The Master of Finishing. Thats the price the fans have to pay.

The new coaches will have my full support all the way. See you at the far post.

For the Game. For the World.

I'm sure the discussion on the next coach and our individual's preferences will never be over..everybody have their own perspectives..
FAM should consider Lim Teong Kim, who have international experience and local context, which is a good blend for a start.
And, FAM should also make public their shortlisted candidates, so the public could give their opinion.

Wan jamak sanggup jadi coach kalau tiada sebarang campur tangan ketika beliau menjalankan tugasnya.

Satu lagi, beliau mahu diberi masa 3 tahun untuk dptkan result dan bukan dua tiga bulan selepas pegang jawatan tu.

FAM sanggup?

Hari tu peter butler pun dah suruh FAM amik coach asing...tolong dengar...

Pemain M-team...2007/08...sek dgn team borneo
