Gunner Cesc Fabregas, artist Salvador Dali and former International Olympic Committee (IOC) chief Juan Antonio Samaranch who died yesterday...have one thing in common. They are/were Catalans...
Anyway Samaranch left behind a mixed legacy. His critics say Samaranch made the IOC his personal fiefdom. Others suggest the Catalan rejuvenated the Olympic Games.
Read Andrew Jennings' take here. I wonder if any personality in Malaysia has the cheek/audacity/temerity to make any sporting organisation his or her personal fiefdom...
Looking at recent developments, perhaps there is...

Aiyaa! Bang Rizal, why you talk bengkang bengkok! You know the answer. Look at the Grand Emperor of OCM, he has been ruling his kingdom NOT fifedom for so many years. In OCM the President have no powers, the Board of OCM mana ade kuasa? All those in the Board all must angkat the Emperor or they keep quiet. Tengok la, Dato Roy, Low Beng Choo semua takut the Emperor. Why even Tunku takut dengan the Emperor.
Bukan kita nak buruk kan nama OCM tapi you look la at the sports in Malaysia, Taekwando, Professional Golf, Fencing , Dancesport dan lain lain lagi semua siapa yang cause the problem.
Emperor cakap ada Mediation body dalam OCM, mediate apa?
Saya rasa Juan Antonio Samaranch itu lonely la dii Shurga, dan dia nati kawan dia dari Malaysia.
Bang Rizal, I think you are referring to the conflict in MAAU the fight between Karim & Zol. That I feel is not a good example. The best example that I can think off is OCM.
You know the biggest trouble maker in Malaysian sports the SEC Gen of OCM by the name of Dato Sieh Kok Chi. He is the champion there in OCM and the trouble maker to the extend that he has made his Kingdom in OCM. All the other people in the Board of OCM cannot control him.
At least Juan Antonio Samaranch knows how to retire , but the Emperor say he will retire but he played you chaps all out. Bang Rizal you have interviewed him on his retirement, what happened?
Can you ask the Minister of Youth and Sports have a word with him to just go.
What Zol says is true and I quote him "Without the athletes there would be no sports association or NSC". If I may add no OCM also .
Grand Emperor of OCM = ?
Fiefdom or not Rizal, my time in Catalonia proved one thing. The people on the streets loved him for Barcelona 92.
Guardiola & co. made him a God by winning Olympic Gold in the heart of Catalonia.
I remember my foster mother pointing at his image on Catalan TV3 and saying what a good man he was.
What JAS did for the Olympics and the IOC cannot be discounted.

Rizal,
I'm sure Malaysian wouldn't mind a fiefdom in our sports fraternity (I am using fraternity very loosely here) as long as there is success...
That's the truth (to me anyway).
