Sponsors, advertisers and marketeers eager to leverage on the upcoming Olympic Games in July, beware. Oh and athletes, coaches and trainers too! Abide by the rules laid out by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) or run the risk of being disqualified from the London Games.
Under Rule 40 of the Olympic Charter, athletes are forbidden from appearing in advertising that clashes with official sponsors during the Games. The period is from July 18 to August 15.
So that means Datuk Lee Chong Wei, Azizulhasni Awang, Pandelela Rinong and Co currently enjoying advertising prominence on various media platforms, cannot be featured in any type of advertising- press, TV and outdoor - throughout that four weeks! Unless they are official partners and sponsors of the London Games.

New tin after this, maybe...
Not too sure whether this can be used or not from July 18 to August 15
Rule 40 of the Olympic Charter limits athletes and other participants in the Olympic Games from appearing in advertising during and shortly before and after the Olympic Games (the so called “Games Period” or “Rule 40 period”). This helps prevent ambush marketing which might otherwise utilize athletes to imply an association with the Games.
Official OCM sponsors, broadcasters and licensees are allowed to use the athletes in advertising during the Games, with prior consent.
Anyway, Go Malaysia Go!
