Junket junkies?

There will be a total of 608 athletes, 253 of them under Category B (which means they are paying their own way, and 261 officials – a ratio of one official for every 2.33 athletes.

Accreditation cards have been issued for 279 observers and 59 VIPs swelling the number of non-athletes to a staggering 599. The question is how many from this group are making the trip at the taxpayers’ expense?

The topic - the Jakarta and Palembang SEA Games which will officially start on Friday. Read The Star report here

Good question Loose Cannon, ask the Grand Master of OCM, the one who issues the accreditation cards.

Reporter pun aku dgr ramai yg p ke sea games. Ramai2 p buat apa kalau dok ceduk berita?? Asyik cover bola jer? Sukan lain camno?? Sebab bola glamor?? So significant reporter p ramai2 buat apa?? Takan dok bantai RTM sebab hantar sorang??

Tulis la positif sikit. Contoh bagaimana atlet kategori struggle untuk p sea games dan mengharap dapat emas? Jadikan kesusahan sebagai satu motivasi.

Ne dok konar yang negatif. Tu la kerja reporter half past six. Home work tak buat sensasi saja lebih

Bro - inilah perangai persatuan/pemimpin sukan kat Malaysia - patutlah sukan kita bertaraf dunia.

Kadang2 rasa tiada keadilan.

To Hang Jebat: OCM does not issue the accreditation cards. It is the organizers who do. OCM only forward the applications handed in by the various associations/govt dept.

To Tiger Mizie: Athletes and the related association in Cat B are reimbursed when they win medals. When they have a good, consistent track record, Cat B can be bumped up to Cat A.

My two cents: All those so-called officials and VIPs, obviously they've done it before. These folks in the national associations and govt sports depts are just a waste of space. They bring nothing to sports but wastage and dead weight.

Salam bro.
It was a good piece by the star but i presumed not everybody who applied for the passes, r going to indon, eg 40 from KOM.

But the piece is quite damaging for misleading everybody to the extent that these officials are going under the tax payers money, which is not totally true.

Tp berita mengejutkan ialah seorg peg msn yg benar2 justified pi indon, meninggal di sana. alFatihah kpd arwah Cikgu Harun.

p/s: tak tulis pulak dlm artikel tu, blogger satwant pun dpt accreditation sea games, pas EP lg. Bila lak dia jd photographer, hehehe.
