Shortlisted for honours

Press release - THE Minister of Education League Cup (MELC) Under-14 semi-finalists Bandar Penawar Sports School (BPSS), Kedah, Selangor and Perak could win more than just the silverware that comes with winning the overall crown.

All four teams have players who are also in line for the six individual awards for the seasons top scorer, best goalkeeper, best defender, best midfielder and best striker.

Except for Perak, the other three teams also have players who will vie for the Most Promising Player award.

The three players short listed for this award are Mohd Shafiq Imran Omar (Selangor), Mohd Arif Farhan Mohd Isa (Kedah) and Shafiq Azreen Shaari (BPSS).

Muhammad Amin Asraf Yaakob of BPSS joins Adam Aidil Iskandar Rosli (Kedah), Haziq Fikri Hussein (Kuala Lumpur), Muhammad Asyri Abdul Majid (Pahang) and Fazirul Afzan Suhaimi of Selangor for the top scorer's award.

And the five, all of whom are Form Two students, are also in the running to bag the best strikers award.

Those shortlisted for the best goalkeepers award are Mohd Syazwan Abdullah (Kedah), Abdul Gafur Samsudin (BPSS), Amiruddin Zaini (Selangor), Muhd Azam Jais (Penang) and Ahmad Zakuan Ahmad Kamal (Perak).

There are only four nominees for the best defender award and all four are from the semi-finalists.

The four are Muhd Fahmi Zakaria (Kedah), Mohd Naim Mokhtar (Selangor), Mohd Hanif Mohd Suhaimi (Perak) and Mohd Faris Shah Rosli of BPSS.

Johors R. Karthigan is the odd one in the battle for the best midfielder award. The others short-listed in this category are Muhd Amirulhisham Awang Kechik (Kedah), Abdul Raqib Abdul Razak (Selangor), Visert Sorrachark a/l Seng Kiang (Perak) and Muhd Shahrul Hakim Rahim (BPSS).

BPSS and Kedah (SMK Tunku Anum Tunku Abdul Rahman, Jitra) have also been short-listed for the Fair Play Trophy and they join front runners Johor, represented by SMK Tasik Utara, Johor Bahru.

The other team in the running for this award is SMK Datuk Abdullah of Rembau, Negri Sembilan.

The Minister of Education League Cup began on Valentines Day on Feb 14 and ended on May 20.

In the two-leg semi-finals Kedah will take on BPSS while defending champions Selangor will face Perak.

The first-leg semi finals this Saturday will see Selangor at home to Perak at Padang C, UiTM in Shah Alam while Kedah will host BPSS at the Mini Stadium in Jitra.

Boleh tak saya katakan sekolah sukan lah punca nya kemerosotan sukan di negara kita.
apa tidaknya; semua murid yg bagus sukan akan mewakili sekolah sukan, lawan nya nanti sekolah biasa yang murid terbaiknya telah dipilih untuk bermain dlm pasukan sekolah sukan. Keputusannya tak payah tanya lah. "yang terpilih sparing dengan yang second class, jawabnya tak berbaloi lah" (Bagus + lemah = statik. lemah + lemah = lemah, bagus + bagus = lebih bagus) contohnya FAM gantung 100 terbaik dengan bangganya gara-gara rasuah. yang tinggal second class players, "the best among the worst" hasilnye sathia dah sebut; buat pula polisi tanpa import players, lagilah jadi hero second class di kampung melalak tanpa lawan setanding, main dengan org luar jadilah macam kedah dalam afc cup. Berbalik kepada sekolah sukan yang melonggokkan yang terbaik membuli sekolah biasa yang ada satu dua hulubalang yang tertinggal, nasib-nasib boleh juga lah menang, tapi mutu tak kan meningkat.
Ni guru pencen cadangkan, dari dulu dah!!!!!!!! Apa kata sekolah sukan tak payah ada team dalam liga ni, hanya jadi hab untuk latihan kebangsaan tapi pemainnya dipulangkan balik untuk wakil negeri asalnya, at least jadi leader, ikon, idola, kebanggaan rakan sepasukan, berentap bersama-sama jadi contoh kepada orang kampung, pembelajaran sebagai leader dapat diterapkan, ni di namakan peer tutoring istilah yang guru pencen timba masa menuntut ilmu di Melbourne dulu, barulah competition tu jadi more competitive. Guru Coachnya baru lah bersemangat nak latih team. Ni ha latih team belum main dah tahu result, nak ke mereka bertungkus-lumus di padang macam guru sebelum 80an bersukan di padang. National Association pun buatlah pemilihan dan yang terbaik tu di bawa keluar negara, bukan friendly match macam lawan MU tu tak ada hasil pun untuk FAM, yang untung hanya promoter dan marketing MU dpt tambah follower sebagai strategi business mereka. Keluar negara menyertai pertandingan jemputan peringkat umur yang banyak ada diluar negara tak perlu pun CYC macam kawan bro rizal introduce tu, baru lah nampak pembangunan nya. KLFA dah bukti kan masa zaman awal 90an dulu, ramai bintang dapat dilahirkan. FAM pun buka akademi bolasepak kat kuantan, players KL tak nak pergi, sebab nampak tiada keperluannya malah KL champion razak cup more than 5 years, melalui kaedah ni. Fikir-fikir kan lah!!!!!
