YAKEB is for athletes

The New Straits Times caption reads - YAKEB patron Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor (centre) launches the “1Ringgit 1Malaysia” campaign at Sri Pentas in Bandar Utama yesterday. Also present (from left): Gp MTB 1 Express CEO Datuk Zulkifli Amin Mamat, YAKEB executive chairman Datuk Mumtaz Jaffar, Deputy Sports Minister Datuk Razali Ibrahim, The Group CEO of Television Networks and Media Prima Bhd International, Datuk Seri Ahmad Farid Ridzuan, Media Prima Bhd executive chairman Datuk Johan Jaaffar, NSTP Bhd CEO Datuk Anthony Firdauz Bujang and members of YAKEB. — Pic: Abdullah Yusof. It would have been more meaningful if the names of the ex-athletes (in white t-shirt) were mentioned as well, such as former cyclist-turned-administrator, Shahruddin Jaafar (kneeling on Rosmah's right), P. Mariappan (on wheelchair), former national bowler Allan Lee who is an avid follower of the international football scene, N.A. Rosli (fourth from right) who had the distinction of representing Malaysia in cycling and race walking and ex-cyclist, Ng Joo Pong. But I guess the VIPs take precedent, lah.

It's the usual case of VIP over the real heroes of the sports.

At times even the sports association's officials are forgotten or even their contributions to the sports they represent are belittled or not even mentioned.

This is the sad state of the sports in the country.

that why a noble intention sometimes been used to promote politician and at the end the ex athlete are the one will suffer lot. Ask YAKEB what they plan and implement? who already got their so call BANTUAN. Just to take photo and put up in the news is not bantuan. Now days that is not enough la bro. Money talk

But i hope they wont over do it. Jumpa atlit kat hospital pun nak keluar paper, keluar TV, sumbangan tak sbrapa.

p/s: Cuba check berapa byk permohonan atlit yang bertimbun kat Yakeb, dr mintak bantuan biasiswa, insurans, sakit dll, yg masih berlonggok belum diproses Datuk Mumtaz.

bro

Adakah sebab Mumtaz rapat dengan Rosmah so this is the platform to go up

LU FIKIR SENDIRI LA BEB

Syabas YAKEB.

Macam tulah cara nak kenang jasa atlet negara. Tengoklah cara Datuk Paduka Mumtaz buat kerja. Jangan pandai kritik orang tapi ekor bergelumang..........?

kena la bagitau orang kita buat kerja nanti dikatanya bodoh sombong la pulok. nak buat macam mana dah resam malaysia. publisiti kena lebih.

NST are only trained to identify the VVIPs. They are not trained to identify sportsmen who matter. So it's not surprising they can only identify the unreal heroes.

yakeb patutnya perjelaskan peranannya...

jd yakeb n yg lain kena faham...mcm2 bentuk peranan sesebuah "yayasan" perlu buat...

bukan sekadar kutip derma n salurkan kpd yg hilang upaya dan sebagainya...ada lg cth atlet yg berupaya tp hilang sumber pendapatan...yg tu mcm mana?....

ada jugak yg hilang pekerjaan...

jd semua aspek perlu diperhalusi...bukannya sekadar melawat org sakit pastu masuk tv, paper...

sekang ni pulak ada program "bersama mu tv3"...maknanya, mumtaz akan appear setiap hari isnin jam 9.00 mlm...alaaaa, mcm rosyam nor ngan nanu dulu...
