Wooing an Indon

Datuk Lee Chong Wei's All-England final defeat to Lin Dan on Sunday was not a surprise considering his poor record against the supremely agile and nimble-footed Chinese ace. Chong Wei is not exactly alone in the runners-up category as he has his coach, Misbun Sidek (1986) and other fellow Malaysians, Foo Kok Keong (1991), Rashid Sidek (1996) and Ong Ewe Hock (1998) for company. Anyway, that's not the news.

Apparently an Indonesian coach is being wooed to help reduce Rashid's burden in helping raise the standards of the singles shuttlers. The coach will not come cheap. But money is not an issue with BAM, with National Sports Council's support and approval of course. And I'm interested to know what is in the offing for the badminton academy after Datuk Zolkples Embong's visit to Denmark prior to the All-England.

Datuk LCW need a very reliable sparring partners. PERIOD!! Look at Lin Dan, he knows he can beat our Datuk & Chen Jin being a 2nd fiddle player gave a lame excuses of injury just to paved way for Lin Dan to face Datuk LCW. The rest of the story, they said is history.

Honestly it is sad to say that our ex-national players are not equipped enough with knowledge and skills to bring M'sian players standard to its highest level and win a lot of trophies. With worldwide economy is in recession, BAM has the gut to spend more money to bring the best coaches, rather than savings. Why not using the available funds to send all the ex-national players for further training in overseas. At bad times now, it is wise to adopt a savings strategy and built up the talented ex-national players or existing coaches to overseas stint. Trust your own people as the result don't come overnight without a proper planning and strategy. Think BAM might want to learn from the Chinese and Korean as every year they managed to produce a pool of talented badminton players

Hariyanto Arbi??? Hartono (Pak Rudy)?? Just a wild guess. Our ex-players are not keen to contribute. Better for them to work with any private badminton academy, more money, more time with family and more freedom.
