The ball is in FAM's pitch

Sports Minister Datuk Ismail Sabri Yaakob has volleyed the ball back to Gifted Group Ltd (GGL) chairman Jonathan Price by asking the latter to seek FA of Malaysia's blessings for the Champions Youth Cup (CYC) to be held as scheduled.

After studying the one-sided contract drafted by the office of his immediate predecessior, Ismail is apparently concerned about the RM17 million that had been paid to GGL. The Government stands to lose a further RM35 million as compensation to GGL if the CYC is cancelled. So Ismail wants CYC to go on.

Sultan Ahmad Shah however has objected to it. It was learnt Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak had an audience with the Pahang ruler in London recently.

That is why in my earlier posting, I suggested to Ismail that a compromise be sought. A win-win situation. Let's do this year's tournament but cancel next year's edition on mutual basis. Habis cerita.

The Public Accounts Committee (PAC)should get to the bottom of this. How come the parties responsible for negotiating the contract allowed GGL to have a vast financial advantage over the Malaysian government?

I know we have very capable financial negotiators in the government. This one doesn't reflect that capability. I smell kickbacks or something to that effect.

kickbacks are nothing new. it is the accepted norm here. if someone refrains from accepting kickbacks, now that's the story.

Semuga YB Bera will learn a thing or two for this CYC sh*t. YG penting, kita jgn aniaya org. Sooner or later sure kantoi. No YB Bera, I am not talking about you.
YB Bera telah teraniaya. Ironcally yg pekena kan YB Bera pun, a fellow YB too. Labu oh... Labu...

A win-win situation must be sought. Meluat dah dengar and tengok CYC dalam tv. Our football WILL NEVER EVER benefit from CYC. Budak2 je yg main bro. Budak2. Menghabiskan MILLIONS je....

If kickbacks were involved, ACA should be in the pic and pronto. ACA nak kena dapat report baru siasat? Sesekali tu tunjuklah proactive... Procedures ada masanya BOLEH dilangkahi...

Nawaitu tu yg penting bung...

Datuk Mail perhaps try to be the hero in the first place. However after looking at the 'history' of it sure "makan diri". That's why CYC is never ending story epic. The best part is Datuk Mail predecessor choose to keep quiet, as if nothing happen la. Curious - why nobody dare to ask her?? FAM should stick to their stand otherwise people in Kelana Jaya will be the loughing stock for football fans. Aggreed with Jln Rebung, FA Cup Final dibuat macam final U18 macam zaman saya main dulu la.. Final should be on special dates. Finalist should be treated as the winner not like the match kat Shah Alam that day. Few days after hard fought semis not enough preparation terus g Shah Alam and play. That's why we have such a subdued performance esp. last 20 - 25 minutes. Why people in Kelana Jaya can't think properly 'bout this.

So CYC is off and sport is RM34m worse off - well done Min of Sport, FAM and everyon els involved.
CYC was never going to improve our players but it could have been used to help te coaches and raise standards but FAM is to short sited to see that and instead of making CYC work for them they try to score political points.
What a sad episode for our sports and the selfish people that run it.
I heard CYC might go Thailand if it dos watch there coaches and youth football improve
