Watch this backhand return...

His forehand could be stronger than mine...

And he's barely six...

Could this boy be our future flagbearer in tennis? Read here and the Malay Mail report here

Wallahuallam.

During my younger days a group of friends were very active in tennis and we managed to run the tennis association in the state. We managed to get the parents to send their young kids at the tender age of 6 for free coaching almost every afternoon. Out of the few hundreds we coached for almost 15 years quite a few turned out to be top class junior players and 4 of them represented the country at international level. However, on reaching Form 5 these star players due to peer pressures and locsl Malaysian environment turned their attention to academics and after the examinations had to focus on tertiary education and to the less successful to try getting a job for survival. Our association could not do much and sadly the Ministry and MSN were not ready to sponsor these talented players to go on circuit and expose them to much better players. If we had done so then though we may not get successful players by today a few would be playing in the ATP or in the Women's world circuit. So my hope is to see one day a Malaysian player playing in an international circuit one day but this can only b achievable with the help and support of LTAM, MSN AND big SPONSORS! My hope is that our young players like the 6 year old prodigy be given continuos encouragement both by the parents and LTAM. MSN and the sponsors to reach for the stars. Today there is big money and fame in being top class tennis player!
