Anak Melaka for the hotseat

Lim Kim Chon, a member of the famous Lim siblings from Malacca, is back in the FA of Malaysia's payroll.

He replaces Aminuddin Hussein as the national Under-16 coach.

His task is to form a decent side that can contain defending champions, Japan, 2002 runners-up Yemen and United Arab Emirates in the Asian Championship in Tashkent in October.

Just to illustrate the degree of difficulty for Lim and his charges, Malaysia qualified for the tourney by default as a replacement for North Korea.

This is following AFC’s decision to ban North Korea, Iraq and Tajikistan from the championship after medical tests confirmed the teams had used over-age players in qualifying matches.

Lim is the elder brother of former keeper, Chuan Chin, and midfield dynamo Teong Kim, who has already created an impression in Europe, being one of Bayern Munich's youth coaches. Another famous Lim sibling is Mary, a former hockey international.
