My ex-boss for MHF?

Tengku Abdullah (fourth from right) with the Pahang Royal family. Picture taken decades ago, copied from my aunty's framed photo

UPDATED
Johnson Fernandez has been nominated for the MHF secretary's post. He is vying for the position provided Sapura supremo, Kenneth Gerard Pereira, who is pursuing his PhD, be voted into office as the deputy president. The duo would want to commit themselves full-time in running the MHF secretariat!
Johnson who had served as secretary general of the Asian Sports Press Union before, will have to quit his cushy job at the Malay Mail (there's already an exodus at the paper). It is said that he was not amused that one commenter of this posting remarked that all the campaigning through his criticisms of MHF over the years has finally borne fruit.
"If at all it's true, this must have been the longest campaign ever for someone eyeing the secretary's post! I've written about hockey for almost three decades" he told someone!
Original posting
I was told by a reliable source that my ex-boss, Johnson Fernandez, is set to be nominated for one of the key posts in the upcoming Malaysian Hockey Federation (MHF) elections. Is he part of Tengku Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah's team? Hmm...Johnson, an avid hockey fan, writer and coach, was a former secretary of the Sportswriters Association of Malaysia (SAM). The former Malay Mail sports editor is passionate about the sport, no doubts about that. Deadline for nominations is Oct 25 and the elections will be held on Nov 1. Now I wonder what's going to happen if Tengku Abdullah is nominated? Will HRH be willing to go against his brother-in-law Tengku Bendahara Johor, Tengku Majid? Or would Tengku Majid make way for Tengku Abdullah? What about Tan Sri Anwar Mohd Noor?

Tg Abdullah should leave MHF alone. Why is this fascination with trying to helm any sports bodies - not to mention a sport that you are not necessarily passionate in? Stick to sports like Polo or something like that.
I'm saying this because, based on track records, the Pahang royal family are not exactly successful - look at football?
Please lah. Let someone else who is more capable.

so you finally heard eh. Guess all the time lobbying (or rather trashing MHF) via his commentary has paid off handsomely.

Bro Rizal,

Sorry to ask but I somehow sense Rizal Hashim's writing in Haresh Deol's pieces in Malay Mail.

Am I far from the truth? I enjoyed your writing and somehow, it seems similar and I am also familiar with how you write using words like disciples, area-based like Seremban based or Serdang based.

Just out of curiosity....

Cheers,

Gary

Dear Rizal,
Who ever want to come in MHF's office must be sincere enuz to improve our hockey both in and outside office's room. If ur boss are the running mate with HRH TM Pahang, then let it be providing there is no hidden agenda behind all the scene. Do be like NATO : No Action Talk Only..
Anyway, no news from 102 gang..what happen now and next??
I believe many of us would agree if we could nominate you as VP candidate as well for MHF election. What say you, bro?

Hehehe...

freak on the leash, both of em have the flair but surely not the same style. Rizal adds too much of facts while the other bloke sometimes gets carried away with his rock lyrics or song titles.

2 different style lah.

Not bad that now hockey will really end up in the dumpsters for ever,we Malaysians are basically cowards as when it come's to royalty we treat them like gods.As Tan Sri Hamzah once said don't la push the common man into the corner and look where football ended up.

Pehh!! Metro control MSN?

Fuyo! Maknanya Metro punya sport reporter semua mesti banyak duit la. Patutla pakai kereta semua dahsyat-dahsyat, Nissan la, semua tu ye?
Pehh! Dunia dah maju beb. Betul-betul maju.

Tony, what about Anwar Ibrahim? Pls don't tell us he's going into hockey!
I'm sure it won't be for the free trips. Maybe for Chua Boon Huat or Nor Azlan Bakar?

Some of us have such short memories! Johnson's time as SAM secretary was the worst in its history. If my memory serves me right, cronysm was rife and the committee who took over from Johnson and friends had problems recoinciling the accounts.I will leave this issue at that. Of course, his biggest "contribution" to SAM was buying the house to be used as the secretariat in Peejay at an exorbitant sum and selling it at a loss.Earlier from being a model organisation with its own office space, Johnson and friends decided to squat at Wisma FAM.Shame, shame! One day, kena halau as FAM needed the space and the rest of the story. is a black mark in the history of SAM.Johnson for MHF secretary? I think I am going to puke. Rizal knows the story but these days, some of us seem to be losing our memory of past events really fast! Johnson is no administrator , just a journalist who is really adept at politicking himself to get what he wants. In case whatever he touches turns to shit! Good luck to the MHF
if Johnson gets to be the secretary.

Rizal,

As usual when non-malays get into the fray, the paranoid and insecure malays will play their silly game and ruin the sport, the destruction of malaysian sport today is the cause of malay domination, just look back in history and it will show you how sport was successfull when non-malays helmed the key positions, especially gen-secs, and when malay athletes didn't dominate sport. so metrosports grow up, its atitude like that that we don't need in this industry. jangan buat malu kaum wartawan sukan metrosports.

wahhh...tak abis-abis ke kemelut politik sukan di malaysia ni. mcm mana nak maju ke depan, asyik pikirkan kepentingan sendiri dan kedudukan. if you see and analyze
how they manage a football team here in u.s, you will be impressed.

metrosports, I see you're up to what you said earlier, your brand of "politik melayu" which includes spreading rumours, unsubstatiated claims and dirty politics. I am not into playing these politics but nevertheless, I have enough balls to comment under my real name. Unlike you, who just throw shit on the names of others, while hiding behind a pseudonym. This seems to be the trend, as in RPK, Kickdefella cases.
Kontrak? Suit yourself. I operate with a clear conscience and I intend to remain that way.

Arnaz don't you write anything else besides cycling a tainted sport.... maybe u should start writing about the scandals in MSN, but for that you need to be hard working la bro ... just F%^%$$#( does not help bro ....
Salam Bro

Hard working? hehehe...

Arnaz, the trouble with you is that you think you are the god of cycling. That is a big joke because you are writing about the most drug-tainted sport in history. Arnaz, grow up, my friend. Stop living in your coconut shell. As a former colleague, i tried to reform you but your skull is as hard as a coconut. Arnaz, there is life beyond the close confines of cycling. Arnaz, grow up. As for me I have given up on you. God help you.

nstman James Ang, (yes we know it is you)

You are talking cock. I cover cycling because it is my beat, not because of anything else. It has been my beat for the past eight years.
I don't think I am the God of cycling, although maybe you may think so considering your limited intelligence.
We picked up the sport when it was nothing, when nobody else really covered it.
The NST, without much contibutions from you as you are just as senile now as you have ever been, went in and exposed many weaknesses within the cycling set-up and pushed them to improve. We may have made some enemies in the process, but that's part of life.
The problem with old, frozen minds like yours is that you not only think of yourself, but you expect everything to remain the same.
You brand cycling as a drug-tainted sport, but the weak journalist that you are, you never think that we can do something about it, bring about change.
Because you, as far and as long as I have known you, have never changed. You cannot change because you think only of yourself, primarily, secondarily and eternally.
Look at you now James Ang. You are just sitting on your ass, selfish and stingy as ever, and just choose to open your godforsaken gob to muck others all over the place.
Think about how you can be a senior season of some value to us.
Of course, in the first place, you have never been even a junior citizen of any value, so we can't help that.
Good luck to you James Ang. I wish I could use bigger words on you...

Arnaz, why are you attacking nstman. Nstman talks sense. It;s you who is rationale. I agrees with NSTman who says you sangat obsessed with drug sport like cycling.
